SPECIAL EDITION OF MY MIND
By Steve Baxley
(As ..well As told to his friends)

Hi, My name is Stephen James Baxley, and I was born in Ft.Hood Army Hospital in Killeen,Texas I want to put this in letter form, but I thought better and decided to put it here.

I have not yet lived a full life,im almost 40, so before I do pass on to my other journey,I would like to do the following things.

1-I would like to see an actual sunset ,unobstructed by street noise,or street lights or any lights whatsoever, and share it with a beautiful woman

2-I would like someone to record a CD of my poems and thoughts

3-I'd like to truly fall in love, maybe I have ..with Pita

4-I like to see the vietnam wall

5-I like to go to Australia

6-I like to attend my first Canadian Football game

7-I like to learn to dance

8-I like to paint a picture..with words

9-I like to meet the president

10- I like to publish a book of poems for romantics

There is so much I would like to do, but I would like to say something..

If I should pass away, I would like to have all my friends have a circus, for I wouldnt want any tears,I want a celebration,no mournings..just people enjoying life and thinking of me.

And I would like it If Doug,Paul,Max and My cousin Mike would plan a big concert ..

and then, I would like it if Pita Ojeda would read my first poem, And Ricky Luis to play guitar accompanying her reading.

I would like Doug to tell the tale of how a friendship formed in Job Corps, then I want the following to take place

I want Luisa Fernanda and Pita Ojeda to sing a romantic song,Ricky to tell jokes,Max to do some routenes, and Paul Slawinski to create a fireworks display

I would like it that at midnight, everyone rises and hugs..I want no tears..I came into the world in happiness, I like to leave it the way I came in it.

And then, there should be a big beer bash ..I want everyone to remember me as a person who cared alot ..and who tried to show the world, that there is more to life than meets the eye, and if we dont expierence it, we become empty and unloved.

My wish..is that all my friends would remember me as a guy with a big heart, and even bigger soul

thank you

IT CAME FROM THE MIND OF STEVE BAXLEY
By Steve Baxley
(As Told To Pita Ojeda while on safari at merwyns)

>WE ALL NEED A BREAK

You realize its been 3 years since I went on vacation OUTSIDE of Michigan and Ohio?

Went to Idaho to see my cousin Mike get married, thats it
maybe I'm being punnished for that.

I mean I do enjoy the odd trek to Canada, and the trek to Celeveland was nice, but
still, nothing beats leaving a city and state for someplace you want to just veg out on.
granted Jackson,Michigan has NOTHING to be proud of, its downtown is death valley,
and the only time this city jumps is when either NASCAR or the IRL come, yea they have a county fair that attracts (and sometimes repells) some good talent..but thats only like 9 days.

And granted Toledo does have some decent qualities, like detroit, but still one needs to just flee to somewhere else, to feel alive,to breathe,to just be.

And for me, that place is..FLORIDA!!

Granted, Ive lived there..mainly in Jacksonville, and have relatives in the greater Tampa area..and my cousin is supposed to be still there, but there is one place ive never been..MIAMI!!

Sure Ive hit Ft. Myers, but feh! that was just a pebble in the mind, MIAMI is the creme of my cappuchino!

Everytime I have wanted to go, something happens..I know my mother HATES Florida, HATES it!! why? "Cause we've lived there", yea only in Jacksonville, which is an hors d'oveurs compared to MIAMI!!

So here is where we stand at the moment, November..MIAMI!

Wish me luck!

>PANTS

I just bought some new pants a week ago, they are now waiting to be sewn up,ripped in the crotch area! well I'm glad Ive two more pair..anyone got a patch?

>PITA

My latest gift, is a ceramic heart, I hope she loves it

>ROD RODDY
Announcer Rod Roddy passed away last night, one of the most liked announcers on TV,mainly for his wardrobe, but his booming voice will always be a reminder of "Press your luck", "SOAP",and "The Price Is Right"

Steve Baxley's mind returns tomorrow

SPECIAL EDITION
FROM NAIONAL POST WRITER SCOTT FESCHUK

What this country needs ... by Scott Feschuk
Source : National Post

... is another TV awards show. May we humbly suggest the Scorpios?

Oct 20, 2003

It is time once again for the Geminis (CBC, 8 p.m.), the annual event at which hundreds of awards are bestowed on the scores of people who earn their living in the Canadian television industry. As many as tens of viewers are expected to watch.

In what began in the spirit of collegiality and swiftly evolved to the spirit of outright ridicule before settling nicely into the spirit of drinking spirits, the Members of the Canadian Caucus of the Television Critics Association met last week at a Toronto pub to create an alternative set of Canadian TV awards -- awards that would set out to prove that, contrary to conventional wisdom and years of painstaking research by leading mathematicians, it is technically possible for people to care even less than they do about the Geminis. The ensuing event -- the First Annual Scorpios Gala -- attracted a who's who of hobos, carnival roustabouts and even a polite waitress who stopped by every now and then to tell us to knock it off with the profanity, the death threats and especially the Knowlton Nash impersonations.

In creating the Scorpios, our small group of critics was influenced by the film-mocking Razzies and, to a much greater extent, Irish beer. The Globe's John Doyle was there, and he was dressed ever so dashingly. The Toronto Star's Vinay Menon was there, and he was dressed -- which was a nice change for him. Bill Brioux of The Toronto Sun presided over the affair with a quiet dignity that he somehow maintained despite proposing several award categories that were fiendishly libelous. As for me -- well, I fell asleep at the bar after spending several hours attempting in vain to persuade my colleagues to confer an lifetime achievement Scorpio on Hammy Hamster.

The First Annual Scorpios Gala was not, to our knowledge, televised -- although by virtue of the number of people who overheard us at the pub, the ceremony did get higher ratings than every Canadian show on digital cable.

Votes were tabulated by the prestigious accounting firm Some Guy At the Next Table Who Said He Could Count to Four.

It should be noted that we didn't just accept any ol' suggested category for the Scorpios. For instance, there was little point in creating The Intrepid Newsman Award for Intrepidness when everyone knew it would just go to Peter Mansbridge. It is simply impossible to deny the intrepid intrepidness of a newsman who, 24 hours after Hurricane Juan hit Nova Scotia, anchored The National from Halifax in a bright yellow intrepid rain slicker while several of his (noticeably dry) guests appeared in T-shirts.

At this juncture, I think it's important to remind you, the reader, of one important thing: We are not mocking Canadian television with the Scorpios -- we are mocking Canadian television and several of the people who work in it.

And now, the results of the First Annual Scorpio Awards:

- The "I Can't Believe It's Canadian!" Show that Sucked The Least Last Season: Trailer Park Boys

- Best Performance in a Canadian Show That Sucked The Least Last Season: Mike Smith (Bubbles), Trailer Park Boys

- Top Comedy of the Year: Rex Murphy's hairdo

- Best American Network in Canada: (tie) CTV and Global

- Best Host, Anchor or Correspondent of a Canadian Reality/Talent/Karaoke-Style Series Who is the Son of a Former Prime Minister (Non-Liberal): No winner.

- Best Program to Watch While Under the Influence of Mind-Bending Narcotics. Nominees: a) Escape From The Newsroom; b) The Gavin Crawford Show; c) Lord Have Mercy!; d) The Surreal Gourmet. Winner: What was the question again?

- Best Host of a Late-Night Laser Eye Surgery Infomercial: Albert Schultz

- Best Host or Hostess of a Hosted CBC Segment Award. Nominees: a) Gordon Pinsent, Oct. 24, 8:43 p.m., CBC; b) Gordon Pinsent, April 12, 9:28 p.m., CBC; c) Gordon Pinsent, Feb. 13, 8:03 p.m., CBC; d) Gordon Pinsent, April 1, 8.01 p.m., CBC. Winner: Luba Goy

- Best Photocopy of an American Talent Show Based on a British Talent Show Originally Based on Karaoke: Canadian Idol

- Best Sound of This or Any Year: The "Uh-uh" uttered by a top CBC executive in response to the question: "So, should we renew Tom Stone for another season?"

IT CAME FROM THE MIND OF STEVE BAXLEY
By Steve Baxley
(As told to Pita Ojeda while on a moonlit walk)

Well, I got hit hard this past week..

Dental Surgery, and that has caused another postponement of my trip to meet the woman of my dreams, Pita Ojeda, I hope she understands that this surgery has to be done.

I would never lie or beak her heart, I really am in love with her and Ive tried so much to see her and ask her on a lunch date to see if indeed we click.

2-3 weeks of surgery and i'll be put to sleep while its done...

im scared that I may have lost Pita forever with this latest postponement

IT CAME FROM THE MIND OF STEVE BAXLEY
By Steve Baxley
(As told to Pita Ojeda while on safari)

Well ,we have somewhat a full load of joy..

>Clear Channel (our soon to be bosses) have given the balde to some engineers at all of their Radio/TV stations,do I sense trouble ahead??

>Congrats to the Chicago Cubs, and yes ..the Boston Red Sox, now if both can beat their respective oppo's ..WE GOT A WORLD SERIES BATTLE OF THE CURSES!!!

>Has SPIKEtv given the boot to the new adult version of Ren and Stimpy??, so far not many new eps were made, instead we see remastered eps from the days of Nickelodeon, and more of the Most Extreme Elimination Challenge shows, while Stripperella also winds up among the missing..

>Well, it could be a close ride as we countdown to the big trek to Florida, Tomorrow I go to see if I can get a job as a model or something like that, and then I have 3weeks of dental surgery ...god help me now !
