The Bax Page Cafe
By Steve Baxley
Host/ Producer Last Call Cafe & WrestleHut w/ Baxman and The Brain

And a new week last longer

First off, the big media story of the week has got to be the upcoming marriage between New york based YOUNG BROADCASTING Co. and Richmond, VA based MEDIA GENERAL Communications Group.
Young Broadcasting owns several stations including Lansing/Jackson's WLNS TV 6 the CBS affiliate, they also run the My Network TV station WHTV My 18 which is owned by Vulture Technologies inc. out of Seattle and recently added the Shield Media,Inc. owned ABC/CW affiliate WLAJ  to its big stable .

So what does this merger mean, simple..Media General will turn the Young Broadcasting stations into big time butt kickers, or as I call it, "The Guppies will become BIG sharks"
they will get bigger budgets, and better more professional looking graphics ..For WLNS TV,
it means this 63 year old legacy CBS affiliate will not just have its fourth owner in said years ,BUT will also have literally the tools to not only challenge..But OVERTAKE its longtime rival Gray Broadcasting co. owned WILX TV.
With a new look [as I call it MEDIA GENERALIZING] and a new attitude, WLNS will indeed be the station to watch when all is said and done!

And the beat goes on..

WADL TV the quiet independent TV Station in Detroit has begun to really make some noise in 2013, first with its revival of legendary Detroit TV bowling game show (from days of WWJ TV 4)" Bowling For Dollars" from its original home ,the legendary  Thunderbird Lanes, and the shows original host Bob Allison. and now with its announcement of a legendary wrestling program (of which The Brain and I are associated with ) AWWL BIG TIME WRESTLING .
WADL has come from being known as "The Station of leftovers" to become more and more like the old WKBD TV 50 in its Kaiser broadcasting days.

I applaud the owners of Adell Broadcasting  for taking TV 38 from being Detroit's unknown station,to becoming Detroit's new Independent TV powerhouse. they continue to remind me of the old WKBD TV , but following their OWN path to a promising future

Light it up and they will notice..

The Detroit Tigers continue to look like a team to be reckoned with..sorta, but so far as we
draw closer to the All-Star break, The Detroit Tigers look like a strong contender to repeat as
American League Champions, lets just hope that Jose Valverde stays at least on the good side of the winning track , granted he slips into the bad vibes that got him bounced  last year , but right now ..its looking good for LOS TIGRES!

And thus we come to the end of the road for now ..
