The Dahl-I-Lama of Radio could be latest casualty of CBS RADIO Cuts

Rod Zimmerman may be happy to talk holiday music, but one thing the CBS Radio executive isn't discussing right now is the future of Steve Dahl at CBS Radio-owned WJMK-FM (104.3). This week rumors swirled in the local radio world that Dahl's exit from the adult hits station is imminent, but Zimmerman wasn't talking.
Still, Zimmerman has demonstrated he can move abruptly and decisively, as evidenced by his swift removal last week of another pair of longtime radio hosts from CBS Radio's Top 40 WBBM-FM (96.3), namely Ed Volkman and Joe Bohannon.
Dahl, who once upon a time was about as much of a popular shock jock as Chicago radio ever had, now has two things working against him -- low ratings and a relatively huge salary. At cash-strapped CBS Radio, these two factors no doubt are what will force Zimmerman's hand, sooner, it appears, rather than later.
Meanwhile, Zimmerman is moving quickly in considering his options to permanently fill the hole left by the departure of Volkman and Bohannon. Some observers believe WBBM's afternoon drive team, Dougie Stylz and J. Roman, have a good shot at getting the morning gig, but Zimmerman says he's also looking beyond the station's existing stable of talent for one or more hosts who could begin in early January. Stay tuned, as they say.

Maybe Steve Dahl can take over at B96...hmmmmmmmmmmmmmmm
