I have an announcement to make, STOP THE FREAKING WORLD I WANT TO GET OFF !!!
Ok, here is the scene.. Monday Night Football does these little opening sketches featuring a newsmaker or some rock group, Monday they featured a cross promotion with THE #1 hit show on abc "DESPERATE HOUSEWIVES" by having Philadelphia Eagles terrell Owens in the eagles lockerrom when he sees Nicolette Sheridan from the show, coming out of the shower in a towel, as Owens tells her that he has to "GET READY FOR SOME FOOTBALL" Miss Sheridan drops the twoel, now we only see her from the back, Owens smiles and lifts her up in his arms and carries her off. the punchline is we See Felicity huffman and Eva Longoria (also from "DH") watching this as if it were an episode of their show. and they do the tag line..
OK, so no harm no foul right, laughter ensues...BUT NOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOO!!!!
The NFL, which stands for NO FUN LEAGUE! says "Hold the phone, that was worse than Janet jackson's flash",not only that but ABC (which btw is owned by DISNEY) immediately issues an apology saying "that it was wrong",doing a little backpeddling and why?? hmmm lets see...oh yes THEYVE YET TO SIGN A NEW DEAL WITH THE NFL!!!!
Panic continues...The head of the FCC chimes in with hypocrocy "I wonder what Walt Disney would think.." hmm lets see, if he were alive today you know what he would say..."I thought it was funny,whats so wrong with it?"
Today Jackson,Michigan's own Tony Dungy (coach of the Indy Colts) called what abc did "Racially offensive",
To quote Dungy
"I think its stereotypical in looking at the players,and on the heels of the Kobe Bryant incident I think its very insensitive"
Dungy Continues: "That athletes are sexual predators and that stuff is more important than whats going on in the field,that sends a terrible message'
Also chimimg in was chicago bears coach Lovie Smith who said it was close to porno,HOWEVER..unlike Dungy, Smith found nothing racially offensive about it.
Now as for my opinion, I think this was blown WAYYYYYY out of proportion by the puritanical NFL,
First off ,not everyone thought like Dungy, Donovan McNabb laughed at it and thought it was funny,
but to hear Tony Dungy spout off on it like he did, Come on Tony..it was a skit!!! sheesh...
I'll say this, I dont care what the color of the skin is on a woman, she could be green for all I care, its all
whats in the heart and soul that should matter.
Remember the NFL pitched a royal fit when ESPN did "PLAYMAKERS" a FICTIONAL depiction of the behind the scenes actions with a football team, the NFL went into heart failure when the series showed the "dark secret",from steroid abuse to cheating and other kinds of abuse..when the hit series got big ratings and several former players and present ones wanted to be on the show, the NFL threatened to strip ESPN of their broadcast rights to NFL games and show them on their little carried NFL NETWORK, ESPN backed down like little rats.
Now this,while FOX and CBS announced new deals, abc/ESPN still talks, but with the NFL "PC Police" throwing another fit , one has to wonder if Paul tagliabue will again act like Tony Soprano and say "You have a choice, Monday night football/and the sunday nfl contract, or we take both away and put it on OUR NFL Network"
God, I hate Political correctness!
Ever since these religious groups, and the FCC "fun police" decided to hike up the fines and bring a new indecency law that is so vauge you'd be fined if you say "DAMN", its like the political correct gestapo, dont say what you want or your fined, its even gone so far as Clear Channel sent Orlando'Radio's "MONSTERS" morning show to a "TOLLERANCE CAMP",for a skit that CC said was "a violation of zero tollerance guidelines"
In Detroit a man painted a mural on the side of his bulding and included a religious scene like that of the cestine chapel and the word love on it, the city of roseville is threatening him with jail if he dont clean it up.
Its getting so that Im thinking strongly about working in Canada or england ...because little by little our rights to free expression and speech are becoming extinct.
What a world....!
Wonder what ever happened to my fave Price is Right Lady, Claudia Jordan, now let me tell you,THIS is an example of a true woman, brains, heart,soul,and beauty. Saw her at a MSU basketball game where celebs played against MSU, MSU won...
Is it just me, or have dating shows lost REALITY????
They show the gorgeous people, but come on, how about showing regular joes like me on dates with these
beauties? you know why you'll never see that, because ratings would suck!
So a rapist was on "BLIND DATE" out with a porn actress, now when it originally aired no one KNEW the guy had a past, but one viewer (his victim) did and WHAM, the guy is now back where he belongs..in prison, and the dating show is beefing up its background checks.
Today was the day Bill Clinton opened his foundation center & library, and yes it contains the impeachment and scandal,BUT it also contained his achievements while in office. indeed a president to be proud of,unlike what we have now.
And Bill Clinton looks good after his heart surgery,I'm neither dem,lib,or repub, I am an independent, or my own words "PROGRESSIVE CONSERVATIVE REFORMIST",
SpikeTV has a new show that is ...well demented , called "HEY! Spring of Trivia" bUT unlike the bizzareness
of MXC where the show is real, BUT the translations are not, "HEY!" is translated totally just like Food Network's IRRRRRRRRRRRRROOOOOOOOONNNNNNNNN CHEF!!!, so far ..so good!
BTW, what ever happened to the adult animations on SpikeTV?????
